Headshot rate is the single clearest indicator of mechanical skill in Free Fire. Two sensitivity values control most of it, and the rest comes from a repeatable drag technique you build through drills, not luck.
Red Dot does the close-range work
In close fights your red dot value determines whether a short downward pull lands on the head or slides past it. Tune this before anything else.
2X Scope covers mid range
Most ranked fights that are not point blank happen at 2X distance. If your mid-range correction feels sluggish, raise 2X slightly rather than raising General.
The drag itself
Fire first, then pull in one short consistent stroke. Consistency of stroke length matters more than speed.

Reading recoil patterns per weapon
The M1887 and MP40 climb differently from an AK, so a drag tuned only against one weapon will undershoot or overshoot with the others. Spend at least one training session per gun you actually use in ranked, rather than assuming one universal drag pattern covers everything.
Common technique mistakes
Dragging with the wrist instead of the finger tip introduces inconsistent stroke length between repetitions. Resting the palm on the screen edge changes how much pressure the panel reads on some devices. Watching the kill feed instead of the crosshair during the drag causes the last few pixels of correction to be guessed rather than aimed.
Building the habit without a training partner
Bot matches and the training ground both work, but bots do not strafe like real players. Alternate: use training ground for pure stroke-length drilling, then use a handful of casual matches purely to test the same drag against players who move unpredictably.
Measuring progress
Check your headshot percentage weekly. If it has not moved after a week of drills, then change one value — not before.
Honest limits of settings-based improvement
Settings and drills raise your ceiling for consistent execution; they do not compensate for input lag on a genuinely low-end panel, and no sensitivity value produces a headshot on a target you never saw. Positioning that gives you a clean sightline still matters more than the exact number in your Red Dot slider.
