How To Improve Aim In Free Fire

Aim • 7 min read

Settings only remove a handicap. Improvement comes from a routine you repeat when you do not feel like it, tracked against a single number instead of your mood after a bad match.

The routine

Fifteen minutes before ranked sessions.

  • 3 min close-range tracking
  • 4 min drag headshots at one fixed range
  • 4 min strafe and shoot
  • 4 min scope-in transitions

Why fifteen minutes and not sixty

Aim drills produce diminishing returns once fatigue sets in, usually somewhere between fifteen and twenty-five minutes for most players. A short, focused warm-up before ranked beats an hour-long session that leaves your thumbs tired before the matches that actually count.

Close-range tracking in detail

Use training ground bots or a friend in a custom room moving side to side at close range. The goal is keeping the crosshair on the target's body without firing, which isolates tracking from the separate skill of drag-shooting.

Drag headshots in detail

Pick one weapon and one fixed distance, then fire and correct fifty times in a row without changing stance or grip. Count how many of the fifty land as headshots before the end of the magazine, and write the number down.

Strafe and shoot

Move left-right while firing at a stationary or slow-moving bot. This drill exposes whether your movement thumb and aim thumb are fighting each other, which is invisible when you drill aim while standing still.

Stop the settings loop

Changing sensitivity every session is the most common cause of a stalled plateau. Lock your values for a full week.

Track one number

Headshot rate or average damage. Pick one, check weekly, and let the number decide whether a change stays.

What a warm-up routine cannot do

Fifteen minutes of drills will not compensate for a genuinely unstable frame rate, a sensitivity set mismatched to your device, or a HUD layout that fights your grip. Fix those first — a warm-up sharpens execution, it does not fix a broken foundation underneath it.
