Red Dot Sensitivity Guide
Red Dot is the slider most close-range fights are decided by, and the one players most often set by accident. This page covers what it controls and how to tune it deliberately.
What it controls
Red Dot applies while you are aiming through a red dot or holographic sight — the low-magnification optics you use in close and medium fights.
It does not affect hip-fire, which is General, and it does not affect any magnified scope. If your close-range aim while ADS feels wrong, this is the slider.
How it should relate to General
Most players are comfortable with Red Dot at or slightly below General. The sight is there for precision, so you generally want the aim to be a little steadier than free-look turning.
If Red Dot is far higher than General, aiming down sight feels like the camera jumps when you scope in. If it is far lower, close fights feel like your aim sticks. Keep them within a modest range of each other unless you have a specific reason.
Tuning it
Aim at a target's chest at about ten to fifteen metres and make small side-to-side corrections. You should be able to stop exactly on a shoulder edge.
If you cross past it, drop five points. If it takes two motions to get there, add five. Test again after three matches rather than immediately.
Signs it is wrong
Red Dot problems have a recognisable signature.
- Your first shot lands but follow-up corrections overshoot — likely too high
- You lose strafing enemies at close range — likely too low
- Drag headshots land above the head — too high for your drag motion
- Aim feels different the instant you scope in — mismatched with General
Weapon and range context
A red dot on an SMG at five metres and on a rifle at thirty metres want slightly different feels, but you only get one slider. Tune for the range where you fight most and accept a compromise at the other.
